I just got back from Vegas, so here is a recap of the week for the teams that I follow...
Brownsburg baseball - On Tuesday, the Dogs crushed North Central 20-10 on a windy day that saw BBurg hit 6 home runs. Justin Hartnagel had 3 HR and 6 RBI. Friday night, they beat Plainfield 5-1 in the first round of the county tourney. Matt Bowman pitched a 2-hitter with 10k and Joel Stucker had 3 RBI. In the county semi-finals, Brownsburg beat Danville 14-0. Tyler Owensby had a homer and 3 RBI. In the finals, the Bulldogs beat arch-rival Avon 7-0. Issac Sampen pitched 5-2/3 innings to get the win. Alex McGowan hit a home run and pitched the final 1-1/3 innings of relief. Brownsburg is 4-0 on the season and play Ben Davis on Monday.
Brownsburg Softball - On Tuesday, BBurg beat Pike 10-5 behind Emily Schaefer's 9 strike-out performance on the mound. Nicki Meidinger had 2 hits, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. On Thursday, the Dogs lost to Whiteland 12-3. Friday, the Bulldogs beat Tri-West 11-4 in the first round of the county tourney. Meidinger and Shayne Zoller each had 3 RBI. I do not have the results from Saturday's games yet.
Ball State Baseball - The Cardinals are 3-1 since Sunday, with their only defeat at the hands of Indiana. All 3 wins have come in conference play. On Saturday, BSU set game records in runs scored, hits, RBI, and at-bats in a 32-10 drubbing of two-time defending MAC champion Bowling Green. Twelve different Cardinals had a hit in the game. The Cards are now 7-1 in the MAC, but still tied with Toledo and Central Michigan for the top spot in the MAC West.
Ball State Softball - The team was 3-2 since Sunday, going 3-1 in the conference during that span. The team is 23-9 and 3-2 in the MAC. They are in second place in the MAC West behind Northern Illinois.
Atlanta Braves - The Braves are 3-2 so far this season, but should be 4-1 after Billy Wagner blew a save on Friday to the Giants. They are one game behind Philly in the NL East and tied for the NL wild card. Of course, there are 157 games to go...
