Ball State plays half a game in losing to Bowling Green

Ball State's baseball team took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth against Bowling Green on Sunday. However, the Falcons got 5 runs in the fifth off of starter Kolbrin Vitek, then added three runs in the sixth to win the game 9-3. The Cardinals only managed 4 hits and had 5 errors that led to 4 unearned runs. BSU is 13-17 overall and 7-2 in the MAC, one game behind Toledo and Central Michigan in the MAC West. They play Purdue on Tuesday, Indiana Tech on Wednesday, and host a three-game series with Buffalo this weekend.

The BSU softball team had a thrilling come-from-behind victory against Eastern Michigan yesterday. Ball State pitcher Elizabeth Milian got off to a slow start, giving up 3 runs in the first two innings, but got better as the game went on. The Cardinals were down 3-1 in the 6th when pinch-hitter Jen Moore tied the game with a 2-run double. Kristy Stratton drove in Moore with a single that led to the 4-3 victory. The Cardinals are 24-9 overall and 4-2 in the MAC. They play 2 against Indiana on Wednesday, two against Buffalo on Friday, and single games against Kent State on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, the Brownsburg softball team ran into its arch-rival Avon in the county tourney. After beating Danville 12-7 earlier in the day, the Bullodgs could not get past the Orioles, losing 8-2. In the Danville game, Krystal Shirrell had 3 hits and 3 RBI while Sarah Callis had 3 RBI. Nicki Meidinger scored 3 runs in the game. Janikka Tillotson got the win on the mound for the Dogs. In the Avon game, the Dogs scattered 7 hits, but could not get any rally going. Emily Schaefer took the loss for BBurg. The team is 3-3 on the season. They play Westfield, Ben Davis, and #1 Center Grove this week.
