Poor coaching and poor play calling lead Redskins to loss

Here's the situation - The Redskins are beating the Lions by 5 points on the road with 4:40 left in the game. The Skins have the ball , it's 2nd and 10 on their own 26. Their backup running back, Keiland Williams, is in the game and has 25 yards on 6 carries so far in the second half, so he is doing pretty well. Now is the time to run the ball and either take some time off the clock or make the Lions start using their timeouts......or not!

McNabb throws his only interception of the game and that puts the Lions in decent scoring position. Detroit covers 37 yards in 7 plays and converts the 2-point conversion to take a 28-25 lead with 3:17 left in the game.

At this point, McNabb is 16 of 27 for 200 yards, a decent game, but not a great one, but the team still has a chance to win. A holding call on first down makes it 1st and 20. A pass from McNabb to Santana Moss gains 10 yards for 2nd and 10. Two incomplete passes make it 4th and 10. McNabb is sacked on 4th down, giving the ball back to the Lions. Nothing during this series shows that McNabb is not getting the job done. Detroit knows that the Redskins are going to pass the ball, so a short gain and a few incompletions are not out of the ordinary.

Detroit takes the good field position and kicks a field goal to make it 31-25 with 1:50 left in the game. The Redskins still have a chance, only down 6 with just under 2 minutes left and no timeouts. The team comes from the sidelines WITH REX GROSSMAN AT QUARTERBACK!!!!! WTF!!!!! The man who has played in 5 games over the past two and a half years, has a career QB rating way below average, and has below average stats in just about every category in his career is going to take the field with the Redskins down 6 points on the road with no time outs and under 2 minutes to go!!!!

Of course, on the first play Grossman is sacked and fumbles the ball. Detroit picks up the ball and runs it in for a touchdown to seal the game. Just a poor decision by coach Shanahan. He says that Grossman runs the 2-minute offense better than McNabb, but I think that's a bunch of crap. Coach made a bad decision and it blew up in his face. Plus, the team now has the bye week, so that gives them 2 weeks to discuss how the man that has helped the team to as many victories as they had all season in 2009 was benched for a guy who hasn't played very much over the past 3 years.
