The Brownsburg girls basketball team struggled early in last night's game against Deactur Central, not scoring a basket until the end of the first quarter, but eventually prevailed 45-31. Stephanie Mavunga led the team with 14 points and 6 blocks. Ryne Carr scored 8, while Lindsey Dall and Erica Lesch chipped in with 6 points each. The team was 15 of 19 from the line, a much improved mark from the last few years. Lexus Murry had 16 of DC's 31 points, but didn't have a lot of help from her teammates.
Brownsburg travels to Ben Davis on Saturday night to face the Giants and their 58-game winning streak. If there ever was a season where BBurg can beat BD, this would be it....

Brownsburg girls basketball team has tough road in November
The high school basketball season starts tonight when the Brownsburg girls team hosts Decatur Central. This is "the" year for Brownsburg, as they return 8 of their top 9 players from last year's 18-6 squad. There are no cupcakes to start the season as BBurg plays teams that contributed to 4 of last year's 6 losses in the first 3 weeks.
Tonight, the team plays Decatur Central, whom they beat in their last matchup in the sectional semis last year to avenge a loss that started the season. Decatur has lost at least two starters, with one of those being Indiana All-Star Anna Munn. BBurg is 1-3 against DC over the last 5 years.
On Saturday, the girls travel to two-time defending state champs Ben Davis. The Giants lost two Indiana All-Stars from last year's team, but they have so much depth that they can still be a dangerous team. BBurg is 0-6 against BD in the last 5 years, including two losses last season.
The final three games in November are Covenant Christian (2A, new to the schedule), Avon (always tough county rival), and Lafayette Jeff (BBurg is 0-5 against them over the last 5 years). Getting through November with a winning record would be a great accomplishment for this team considering past history.
