Brownsburg baseball team off to hot start

The Brownsburg baseball team got off to a good start in their game at McCutcheon on Thursday, taking a 4-0 lead after two innings. They won the game 9-3. Justin Hartnagel hit a home run in the first inning, his 6th homer of the year. Cory Sears had a big two-run double in the second inning. Isaac Sampen got the start for the Dogs, but could only last 1-1/3 innings after giving up 3 earned runs. Ryan Rhodes pitched 5-2/3 scoreless innings in relief to get the win. The Dogs are now 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the HCC. They travel to Madison on Saturday to play both Madison and Silver Creek. Silver Creek is 7-3, Madison is 4-4.

In a game that wasn't very surprising, the Brownsburg softball team lost to #1 Center Grove 15-3. Center Grove got 4 runs in the first and 3 in the second to take a 7-0 lead after two innings. After 3 more runs by the Trojans, BBurg finally got on the board in the fourth inning. As was the case earlier in the week, the mental errors in the field by Brownsburg and the aggressiveness of the opponent led to the Bulldogs demise. After a week with 3 losses and being outscored 32-6, the Dogs will travel to Lawrence Central on Saturday for an invitational. Next week, it doesn't get any easier as the Dogs play Avon (5-0) on Tuesday and Hamilton SE (5-2) on Friday.
