Road woes and another one-run game

The Braves lost another one run game last night, 6-5. They are now 0-7 in one-run games and 2-7 on the road. Tim Hudson only threw three innings as he is recovering from the flu and could only throw 85 mph when he usually throws in the mid to low 90s. John Smoltz takes the hill tonight in the series finale at 710pm.

The BSU Cardinals beat Indiana yesterday 5-2. Defense and pitching saved the day. The defense turned 5 double plays and had no errors. The pitchers held IU scoreless over the final 7 innings. Dean Anna had a homer, giving him 4 in the last two games and a team-leading 9 on the season. The Cards are now 21-11 (19-11 in D1 games). They play a 3-game series at Central Michigan this weekend.

The Brownsburg Bulldogs suffered their first defeat of the year last night, losing to Noblesville 7-4. Senior Mark Conover took the loss, he is now 2-1 on the season. Junior Tucker Barnhart had 2 hits for the Bulldogs. The team has a 7-1 record and is 3-1 in the conference. While the loss does sting a little, the HCC is a tough baseball conference (7 state championship appearances in the last 14 years). The conference winner was 14-4 last year, so a few losses shouldn't hurt too much.
