Well, that wasn't pretty....

The Braves lost to the Phillies last night 3-1. Philly capitalized on a Jason Heyward error as part of a two-run 5th inning that gave them the 3-1 lead. The Braves grounded into double plays in the 1st, 2nd, and 6th innings to stem any type of rally. Brandon Beachy got the start for Atlanta due to Jair Jurrjens sore knee. Beachy was recalled from the Instructional League for the start, and considering the circumstances he did not do too bad. He gave up 1 earned run in 4-1/3 innings.

The Braves are now 4 games behind the Phillies in the NL East with 11 games to play. Atlanta leads the wild card by 2 games over San Diego and 3 games over Colorado. The Braves and Phillies play game two of their series tonight.

Omar Infante was 0-for-4 last night lowering his batting average to .334 and his qualifying average to .324. Carlos Gonzalez did not play last night and still leads the NL with a .340 average. Infante needs 19 hits over the last 11 games to reach a .340 average and hope Gonzalez has a few off nights.
