By 4pm Sunday, the Braves had beaten the Mets to sweep the series, the Phillies were down 6-3 in the 9th inning against the Nationals, the Cowboys had lost to the Bears, and the Redskins were starting their home game against the Texans. However, a 4-run ninth inning gave the Phillies a victory and the Redskins blew a 27-10 lead to turn a great day for my teams into a so-so day.
Atlanta is 3 games behind Philly in the NL East and 2.5 games ahead of San Diego in the wild card race. The Braves and Phillies start a 3-game series tonight, a series that the Braves need to win the series to have any chance at the division title.
Omar Infante was 2-for 4 with a walk to raise his average to .337 with a qualifying average of .327. Carlos Gonzalez leads the NL with a .340 batting average. Infante needs 19 hits over his last 12 games to have a good chance at winning the batting title.
