The Brownsburg girls basketball team can win the HCC title on Saturday, but it needs a strong showing on the road at Fishers and some help from Noblesville. Here are the current leaders in the conference:
Lafayette Jeff 7-1
Brownsburg 7-1
Westfield 6-2
Fishers 6-2 (assuming that they beat 0-17 Harrison tonight)
If Jeff wins against Noblesville and Brownsburg defeats Fishers on Saturday, they win the title due to their defeat of Brownsburg a few weeks ago. I don't know the tie-breakers in the HCC, but here is my best guess. If both Brownsburg and Jeff lose while Westfield and Fishers win, all four teams are 7-2. Using the records between the 4 teams against each other, Fishers and Jeff would be 2-1, BBurg and Westifled would be 1-2. Jeff beat Fishers in the regular season, so they would win the title, I would assume. The Lafayette Journal-Courier stated last week that the Bronchos have clinched at least a share of the HCC title, but that is not entirely correct. A Brownsburg win against Fishers, along with a loss by Jeff would give Brownsburg the outright title.
In football news, the Susan Lucci of linebackers, Washington's London Fletcher, finally made the pro bowl. He was one of the leading tacklers this decade and has never missed a game in 12 years. He will join rookie Brian Orapko as the other Redskins representative in the game on Sunday. Congratulations London!!!!
