The Braves lost, again, last night to the Giants, 4-2. Jair Jurrjens gave up 3 earned runs in 6 innings, but the offense was stymied by Matt Cain of the Giants. Omar Infante and Kelly Johnson had 2 hits each to account for 4 of the 7 hits. Infante and Jeff Francoeur each had an RBI. Blaine Boyer and Jeff Bennett each pitched a scoreless inning of relief. The two teams play again tonight at 1015p. Mike Hampton will pitch for the Braves while Jonathan Sanchez will pitch for the Giants.
On the injury front, there is good news and bad news. Brian McCann started for the first time in seven games. He was 0-3 but it was the first time in a week that he has faced live pitching. Chipper Jones is ready to come back from the DL by Friday. Tom Glavine threw 53 pitches in a game for Class A Myrtle Beach, he could be ready to join the Braves by this weekend but he may make one more rehab start. Rafael Soriano was placed on the DL Monday, depleting an already thin bullpen. Tim Hudson will need Tommy John surgery and could be out until next August.
