The Braves were beaten by the Giants yesterday, 3-2. Atlanta has now lost four straight series. Tim Lincecum threw 8 innings for the Giants, only giving up 2 runs, both on ground out RBIs. Mark Kotsay and Yunel Escobar had the RBIs for the Braves. Brian McCann had three of Atlanta's five hits. Chuck James gave up 3 runs in 4 innings, but actually lowered his ERA to 9.10. Buddy Carlyle, Julian Tavarez, and Will Ohman all threw scoreless relief. The Braves now travel to Arizona for a four game series starting tonight at 940p. Charlie Morton will pitch for the Braves, while Yusmeiro Petit will pitch for the D-Backs. The Braves are 10.5 games behind the Phillies in the NL East.
The US Men's soccer team beat Japan 1-0 in their opening game of Olympic pool play. The opening ceremonies are Friday in Beijing.
The Packers have finally traded Brett Favre to the Jets for at least a fourth-round draft pick, depending on how the Jets play this season.
