Be careful what you wish for

Rumor has it, a few years ago meddling "parents with connections" got Joe Lentz fired from the Center Grove girls basketball program that he built into a perennial contender. I hope those parents are happy with the 15-12 record since the beginning of last year and their first round loss to Franklin Central in the sectional. Lentz coached the team for 15 years and had 256 wins, 14 winning seasons, 8 sectional titles, 4 regional titles, and the 1996 state championship. To throw that away seems ludicrous. Anyways, I hope the selfish parents got what they wanted at the expense of the team as a whole.

Why do I bring this up? Brownsburg hosts Center Grove this evening! Brownsburg is 5-2 with both losses coming against top 10 teams (Ben Davis and Hamilton SE). Center Grove is 3-3 with all losses against unranked teams. The Sagarin ratings show Brownsburg as a 13 point favorite.

Brownsburg is led by Stephanie Mavunga (16ppg, 8 rpg, 4 bpg) and Lindsey Dall (6ppg, 6 rpg). Center Grove is led by Mel Doss (15ppg, 8 rpg, 3 spg) and Nikky Moan (10ppg, 5 rpg).

Center Grove has won 9 of the last 10 games against Brownsburg, with the Bulldogs losing last year's game 46-37 at Center Grove. The Dogs have already avenged 2 of their losses from last year, could this be another one?

Remember the smile on Joe's face last March as he received his state championship medallion as an ass't coach at Ben Davis. He is at BD again this year and a medal at the end of the season again is not out of the question. Can't say the same for CG.
