An exciting night of baseball

The Atlanta Braves beat the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night, 2-0. The pitching duel between Tim Hudson and Edinson Volquez was "as advertised". Hudson threw a complete-game shutout with 10 strikeouts and scattering 3 hits. Of his 110 pitches, only 29 were out of the strike zone. Volquez only gave up 1 earned run in 6 innings, but hung a curve ball that Brain McCann hit out of the park in the 4th inning. McCann's home run accounted for the only two runs scored in the game. Chipper Jones was 2-3, raising his average to .417. The two teams play again on Saturday, game time is 710pm. Jo Jo Reyes makes his 2008 debut for the Braves. Matt Belisle will pitch for the Reds.

The Ball State Cardinals scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat Eastern Michigan, 7-6. It was a windy day in Muncie as 8 home runs were hit in the game. Kolbrin Vitek and T.J. Baumet each had three hits. Baumet's single in the ninth brought in the winning run. Tyler Pritchard threw 6 innings, only giving up three runs, but not getting a decision. The Cardinals are now 25-16, 10-6 in the MAC. The teams play on Saturday at 1pm.
