The Braves lost 2 of 3 this weekend to the Nationals, falling to a 1-5 record over the last 6 games. Atlanta is now .5 games behind in the wild card race behind San Diego. The Giants lead the Padres by .5 games in the NL West.
The Braves have 6 games left and host Florida and Philly. The Phillies have already clinched a playoff spot, so they may be resting their players in that last series, so that is a good thing. The Giants are off on Monday and host Arizona and San Diego. The Padres host the Cubs for 4 games and then travel to San Fran. If the Braves can hold on until Thursday and let the Padres and Giants beat up on each other, they could still make the playoffs.
Omar Infante has struggled like the entire team has over the weekend. Infante was 2-for-13 against Washington and is 3-for-25 over the last 6 games. That type of performance will not win you a batting title. Infante is batting .326 and with 4 plate appearances per game over the next 6 games, he will be qualified for the batting title. However, Carlos Gonzalez leads the NL with a .341 average. Infante needs 15 hits over the 6 games remaining to have a shot at winning the title.
