The Brownsburg boys basketball team had another rough outing on Saturday night, losing to Ben Davis 54-41. The Dogs kept it close in the first half, only down 21-19 at the break. However, BD had an 11-0 run to start the second half as part of a 22-9 third quarter. BBurg could not get any closer. The Dogs shot 32 percent from the floor, which is an improvement over the 24 percent they shot on Friday, but that will not be enough to win games with the schedule that we play. The Dogs have 11 days off before going to Perry Meridian on December 30th. Hopefully, the extended break will give them a fresh start to the second half of the season.
The Brownsburg girls team defeated a injury-depleted Noblesville squad Saturday afternoon 44-28. The Millers only dressed 7 players for the varsity game, but two players were injured during the game, leaving them with 5 healthy bodies. The Millers gave a valiant effort, but fatigue and a smothering Bulldog defense stepped in leading to a 17-3 Dogs advantage in the 4th quarter. Freshman Stephanie Mavunga led the scoring with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Leah Freestone kept the Dogs in the game early and ended up with 11 points. Junior Lindsey Dall scored 10 points, 6 rebounds, and was 4 of 5 from the field. The Bulldogs shot 47 percent from the floor, but was 12 of 19 in two point shots for a 63 percent clip. The Bulldogs get a week of rest before traveling to Lawrence Central for the LC Invitational on December 28th. BBurg plays Beech Grove in game one, followed by Triton Central and LC in game two.
