Back to earth

The Braves hit a brick wall called Brandon Webb as he gave up only one run in 6 innings to lead the D-Backs to a 4-1 victory. Mike Hampton struggled for Atlanta, giving up all 6 runs in his 4 innings pitched. Vladimir Nunez threw 2 innings of shutout ball and Julian Tavarez and Blaine Boyer threw one inning each. Omar Infante was 2 for 3 with the only RBI of the game for the Braves. The Braves have the day off today before hosting the Cubs for a three game series starting Tuesday.

If you didn't see it live, you have to watch the Olympic Men's swimming 4x100 freestyle relay team. They came from behind to beat the trash-talking French after being behind by about a second with 100 meters to go. It's been said that it was the best relay race ever ran, and judging by the times put up, I think they may be right. South Africa broke the world record.....and finished FIFTH!!!!

Bernie Mac died on Saturday at the age of 50. He was a great comedy man. I liked his roles in the "Ocean's" movies as well as his bit part in Transformers. He was always funny on the Bernie Mac show and was one of the Original Kings of Comedy group. One of my favorite lines of his was in the Bernie Mac show when his TV daughter Vanessa was calling him out on talking in the third person. She said "You ever notice that Bernie Mac is always calling himself Bernie Mac? Bernie Mac so smart. Bernie Mac so great. Bernie Mac just likes to say Bernie Mac." He replied "Now wait a minute, Bernie Mac don't do that." Funny stuff....

Isaac Hayes passed away on Sunday at the age of 65. For the older generation, he was known as a great R&B singer/songwriter who sang the theme song from "Shaft". For the younger generation, he was known as the voice of Chef on South Park.

And since famous deaths always come in threes, someone else should pass away in the next few days.....
