The Brownsburg baseball team lost to Fishers on Friday 9-2. The Dogs finished the regular season with a 17-8 record overall and 12-6 in the HCC, good for fourth place in the conference. BBurg will play in the sectionals on Monday, May 30th at 10am against the winner of Thursday's Ben Davis/Manual game. If the Dogs win that game, they play later on Monday night at 6pm in the sectional championship.
Brownsburg's softball team takes their 9-16 record to sectional play tonight. They play host Ben Davis and their 18-6 record. The two teams played in April with BD beating the Dogs 11-4. With only one senior on the team, the Dogs can use this tournament as a learning and growing experience for next year.
Ball State's baseball season mecifully ended this weekend. The Cards were 15-35 overall and 11-15 in the MAC. The team only loses three seniors, including Brownsburg's own TJ Baumet. Baumet had a solid career at BSU, starting in 197 of the 202 games he played. He ended his career with a .287 batting average with 33 HR and 119 RBI. He makes the all-time top 5 in a few categories, but only one of them are positive. TJ is fourth all-time in assists at Ball State with 494. He finished 4th all-time in strikeouts (163) and is the all-time leader in errors committed with 80. His career fielding percentage is .911. But, it takes quite a player to play at a Division 1 level for all four years and I applaud TJ for a great career at BSU.
