BSU softball has good weekend

The Ball State softball team went 4-1 in the Radford tournament, losing only to the host school. They recorded victories over Delaware, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, and Robert Morris. The offense got back on track with 30 runs over the 5 games while the pitching gave up 10 runs. BSU catcher Amanda Montalto was named tournament MVP while pitcher Audra Sanders and shortstop Alicia Barkley were named to the all-tournament team. The Cards host Dayton in a DH on Thursday. They travel to Miami (OH) for a 4-game tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The team is 15-11 on the season.

The BSU baseball team was swept this weekend by Belmont. They had a lead going into the bottom of the 9th on Friday, but gave up a run in the inning and a run in the 12th to let the game slip away. On Saturday, Belmont jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings and never looked back, with the Cardinals losing 4-1. On Sunday, Belmont took the same 4-0 lead after three innings, but BSU bounced back to trail 5-2 at the end of six innings. However, three unearned runs in the 7th inning finished off BSU in an 8-5 loss. The team hosts IU on Wednesday before starting MAC play this weekend at home against Ohio. BSU is 2-16 for the season.
