Good weekend for the Bulldogs

The Brownsburg girls basketball team took care of Brebeuf on Senior Night, winning 57-30. The Dogs led 28-19 at the half and held Brebeuf scoreless in the third quarter to take a 48-19 lead after three. It was the second time in two weeks that the Dogs have held a team scoreless for an entire quarter. Stephanie Mavunga led the team with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 blocked shots. Morgan Miller had 8 points and 5 assists. Ryne Carr led the defense with 7 steals. The Dogs finish the regular season 18-4 and face Tech in the sectional on Wednesday at 6pm.

The Boys basketball team won both games this weekend. The Dogs used a strong second half to beat Westfield 55-45. On Saturday, the boys hosted a pretty good Crawfordsville team and beat them 62-59 in triple overtime. The first half was a yo-yo affair as BBurg took a 15-8 lead after one quarter. But, the Athenians had a strong 18-8 second quarter to take a 26-23 lead into the half. The third quarter was even, but the fourth quarter was a defensive struggle. The teams combined for 11 points in the quarter. It was a great team effort as the Dogs had 18 assists on their 19 baskets. Jaraan Lands led the scoring with 19 points and had 8 rebounds. Mycha Whetsone had 17 points, 5 three-pointers, and 5 rebounds. Chase Dutra had 11 points and 6 assists, Jordan Reagan 5 rebounds and 5 assists, Darayl Jordan 7 rebounds.
