Kawakami finally gets a win...plus it is the last day of interleague play, HOORAY!
The Braves beat the Tigers 4-3 yesterday, giving Kenshin Kawakami his first win of the season. However, it did not come easily. The Braves were down 1-0 in the 7th when Chipper Jones hit a 3-run homer to give Atlanta a 3-1 lead. An Eric Hinske double in the 8th added another run for the Braves. But, the Tigers were not finished. In the ninth, a home run by Miguel Cabrera cut the lead to 4-2. Four straight walks (yes, four straight walks), cut the Braves lead to 4-3 with Johnny Damon at the plate. Damon struck out on a pitch that was nowhere near the plate, as seen in this link (look at pitch 7). But, a win is a win and the addition of a Mets loss puts the Braves 1.5 games ahead in the NL East. Atlanta hosts Detroit at 135p this afternoon. Tommy Hanson goes to the mound for the Braves.
