The Brownsburg boys basketball team put forth a good effort against Pike on Saturday night, but came up short in the 4th quarter, losing 54-45. It looked like it was going to be a repeat of Friday night's drubbing by Zionsville as Pike took a 7-0 lead 90 seconds into the game. The Dogs calmed down and actually took a 19-8 lead at the 4:30 mark of the second quarter. Unfortunately, it would be their only lead of the game. Pike took a 26-21 lead into the half. The Red Devils came out on fire in the third quarter and stretched the lead to 39-28 with 2 minutes left in the third. Over the next 5 minutes, BBurg had a run of their own to cut the lead to 39-37 with 5 minutes left in the 4th. However, a 6-0 response by Pike made it 45-37 and a breakaway dunk by Pike phenom Marquis Teague put the game out of reach late in the game. Brownsburg was led by Torrey Nibbs' 17 points. Jacob Eldridge had 11 with Kurtis Runyon chipping in with 8. Teague led Pike and all scorers with 18 points on 3 field goals and 12-16 free throws. The Bulldogs travel to Avon on Friday and host Ben Davis on Saturday.
The BBurg girls basketball team had no problem with Harrison last night, winning easily 56-32. They had a 32-13 lead at the half and a 45-15 margin after 3 quarters. Erica Lesch had 12 points to lead the Bulldogs. She also hit 3 three-pointers. Ryne Carr had 9 points while Leah Freestone and Stephanie Mavunga scored 8 each. The Dogs travel to Plainfield on Wednesday and host Noblesville on Saturday afternoon.
The Washington Redskins backups, which is just about all they have healthy enough to play, will go to Oakland to face the Raiders at 4pm EST. The Redskins are a 1-point favorite and the over/under is 37. I think the Skins have a decided advantage as their defense can throttle the relatively weak offense of the Raiders. The Skins offense is bad, but the Raider defense is league average, so we may get to put a few points on the board. I feel like we can get a victory, which is good, because it may be out last one this year. The last three games are against Dallas, NY Giants, and San Diego.
