Ball State's football team travels to Northern Illinois for a MAC showdown on ESPNU tonight at 6pm. On paper, it looks like the Cardinals are going to get crushed. NIU is first or second in the MAC in offensive scoring, rushing offense, defensive scoring, total defense, and rushing defense. BSU is 4th in rushing offense, but 9th or worse in every other category. BSU is a 17-point underdog. If NIU wins this game, they will be 7-3 and still a contender in the MAC West.
The Washington Redskins are 4 point underdogs at home against Denver on Sunday. The injury bug has hit and that is not what this 2-6 team needs. Clinton Portis is "very, very doubtful" for Sunday's game, so Ladell Betts will probably get his first start in 3 years. Safety Chris Horton was put on IR due to toe surgery. Combine that with the loss of two offensive lineman (Samuels and Thomas) and our top receiver (Cooley), it doesn't look too good for the Skins for the rest of the year.
