Right now, the Braves have three glaring weak spots on offense, second base, left field, and right field. Omar Infante is out until the All-Star break with a broken hand and when he gets back he would be an upgrade on Kelly Johnson at second base. Left field is currently a platoon situation with Garrett Anderson and Matt Diaz. I think Diaz should be playing more, but for now this situation will work until Jordan Schafer works out the kinks in AAA Gwinnett. I know Schafer is one of the players who will be the future of this franchise and he and current center fielder Nate McLouth can man left field and center field for years to come. Now, the gaping hole in right field known as Jeff Francoeur. His name has been thrown around in trade talks for the past month or so. I would like to get another outfielder for him, since we do not need another starting pitcher right now. Maybe he can be packaged with a prospect or two to get Matt Holliday, Brad Hawpe, or someone of that ilk. Whatever GM Frank Wren decides to do, I hope he doesn't mess with the starting pitching and that he must trade Francoeur.
In the College World Series yesterday, CS Fullerton was eliminated by Virginia and LSU beat Arkansas. Today, North Carolina plays Southern Miss in an elimination game followed by Arizona State and Texas playing for the first berth in the Bracket Two finals.
